Generally well drained mixed forest. Exotics are well established along the river and particularly to the north where the soils become calcareous.;Steep W facing slope with larg xeric sandstone glade surrounded by a woodland with xeric areas and seeps. Moderately sloped, 10 to 35 degree, xeric to moist, open and sunny. The geology is probably complex here, since a number of the species tend to be calciphiles. Lonicera japonica and Microstegium vimineum appear to be the main threats to the glade; Tradescantia, although native, is a bit weedy here. The community is certainly not old growth, but will probably be kept in a wooded condition. Fire may be important in maintaining the area. The vegetation is almost entirely on the perimeter of the outcrop, except for lichens & bryophytes
